Welcome to Theological Matters. Here you will find reflections on theological topics from the faculty of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary as well as occasional guest contributors. Contributors to the blog bring their diverse expertise in the areas of New Testament, Old Testament, philosophy, ethics, systematic theology, preaching, pastoral ministry and many others for the building up of the local church. The conviction of the faculty at Southwestern Seminary is that theology should serve the fulfillment of the Great Commission and so the resources you find on this blog will be aimed toward that end.
Southwestern Seminary exists to assist the churches of the Southern Baptist Convention through biblical education. As such our theology is for the church and we seek to equip those called to minister effectively in the local church. At the same time the tone of all that takes place is set by the Great Commission and our role in reaching the lost world. The consequence of this is that evangelism and missions are the heartbeat of our seminary. Whatever topic you may encounter on this blog, it is our hope that you will be spiritually challenged, the church will be built up, the lost will be reached, and the Lord will be glorified.
